High Shear Disc (Cowles Disc Impeller)

The impeller's Saw tooth blade configuration contributes to mixing by producing high shear forces. This design is particularly effective for activities like thoroughly blending powders, dispersing fine solids, disintegrating agglomerations (clumps), and forming emulsions. To create the necessary strong localized shear forces, the impeller disperses the rapid tip speeds across a very compact area. Enhanced durability can also be achieved with the option of using hardened coatings for better wear resistance. In cases where more viscous substances are involved, the inclusion of an additional axial flow impeller can ensure adequate circulation within the vessel.

Feature

  • Ideal for medium to highly viscous products.
  • longer lifetime can be achieved by using hardened coatings.
  • Produces remarkably high localized power input.
